Student Travel Grants
We are pleased to announce the availability of Micro-32 student travel grants. The
grant program is made possible through ACM SIGMICRO. The purpose of the grant is to
supplement the advisor's research grants or the student's fellowship travel allowance to
make attending Micro-32 even more affordable. Grant details are given below:
- Students presenting papers at Micro-32 will be given priority in the
selection process.
- A grant is intended to partially cover the airfare, hotel, and registration expenses, up
to a maximum of $600.
- Grant applicants must be full-time active students with valid student ID.
- You must register to Micro-32 before applying to a student travel
grant.
- Applicants must submit the application form below by 10 OCT
1999. Email confirming receipt of the application will be sent immediately. Notice
of decision on applications will be sent by 22 OCT 1999.
- Grant checks will be provided to recipients at the close of the main symposium thread.
- Grant recipients are still required to pay in full, at the student level, the symposium
fee and applicable fees for any elected workshop/tutorial. Note that the student fee for
the symposium (and for any elected workshop/tutorial), even though significantly
discounted, entitles the student to ALL related components including all meals, breaks,
and any special events.
- A note to US students:
The US Government considers that a grant received by a student MIGHT BE a taxable income.
In order to avoid any future inconvenience, all US students who receive a grant should:
- Bring a completed W-9 form (including Taxpayer ID #) to the symposium.
An empty W-9 form can be obtain from the US/IRS web site at http://www.irs.gov/forms_pubs/forms.html
- Keep accurate records to allow later to demonstrate on the tax returns, if necessary,
that this money was in fact a legitimate reimbursement of travel expense and not real
income.
